I'm going to be doing a couple of tutorial videos for a local club and want something to record audio.

Most of it will be sat at my desk as a voice over and I thought maybe something like a Blue Yeti. However I want to do some on location stuff which will be filmed on my D800 and built in Mics are terrible so I thought maybe I could get a microphone that could cover both bases?

I'm going to give myself a budget of up to £150.

Any recommendations or advice?

Sample videos were recorded with photobooth + webcam + following mics for audio. The central heating came on before the rode test, usually there is less hiss.

blue yeti

rode lav (I use it on D810 & computer)

Many thanks!

At first I thought the Blue Yeti sounded the best but on a second listen I think the Rode sounds more natural with a better tone.

I've had a go at modding the Blue Yeti, and below is what it sounds like now.

You've done a great job, there's a big difference between this and the original sound recording and I would be very happy with that. Good timing as well as I was going to buy a mic this weekend :)

Thanks again!
