Spec me my 1st DSLR

I'm after a DSLR guys.

I have never owned one myself. But I have used my dads. Nikon D40x

I will be using the camera for general use. Portrait photos and landscape.

I am keen on Nikons.

Budget is between £250 - £350

Would it be worth waiting until the January sales? Are they likely to go down in price?

Hi,

You should look into a Nikon D3100/d3200 series through to D5100/D5200. ( used prices for budget)
They are both entry-intermediate level bodies.

D3200 with 18-55 kit lens can be had for less than £350 new.

I picked up a d3100 kit, with 18-55mm lens the other week.

£239.99 at the greek island place, but only available online.

edit: now out of stock by the looks of it

however the d3200 kit squerble mentioned is £280 there, or a d3100 with 2 lenses (18-55, and 55-200) for £350

There'll probably be the release of the D3400/D5400 around March, just little incremental models. It may bring the price of the D3300 down a touch, so if you want to hold out...
