Hello all,

Was at home with my parents for Christmas, and my god if I couldn't have thrown their PC out the window - drove me nuts. Hardly suprising though, given it is a P4 'emachine', purchased from the purple people of no knowledge quite some years ago.

So, they've agreed I can build them a new system sometime in the next few months. Only needs to be a simple home build.

Budget: I would say 300 to 400 quid, but I could perhaps push them up a little.

Needs:

- Simple machine for word processing, email etc.
- Intel processor.
- New monitor (I figure just a 20" 1600x900 would be fine?)
- Solid state drive.
- Small form factor by preference as can't see why a non-gaming PC really needs a big case these days!
- Keyboard and mouse (nothing fancy needed).
- Possibly a new wireless router - doesn't need to be anything amazing, but their current one is from the dark ages, and I could only connect to it from within about a foot of it. But if this blows their budget, then its not that important.

DON'T need OS, as have Win7 to put on it.

Any input appreciated!

Thanks.

I know its AMD, but its the newer APU's and cheap as chips!

Also will easily suit all of their needs!

60GB should be fine for a simple home build? After the OS is installed you should have around 40GB left for programs and files. You can always add a hard drive later if they find they are running out of room.
