Spec me: Picture frame (A1), deep

Hi all,

Looking for a picture frame, probably black, A1 in size, and it's going to have a piece of foam board in it that is probably 1-2cm thick?

Where's a nice place to get them from? Would rather order online but unsure where does them with deep fixings

I normally go with https://fastframes.co.uk/ to get any frames. Might be worth dropping them an email first to see if they can cope with a deeper board. They do have them with card inlays and backing so it might be ok to remove the card inlay from the front to give you more room for your picture.

Which one allowed you to fit the foam board in, they all look like standard frames to me rather than the shadow / memory box type?

The foam board is under a 1cm I depth I believe

I had to bend the holding pins a little bit shorter but it does the job

Yeah pinged them an email and they said any of the metal frames should be fine from recollection.

But defo just email them if you're concerned

I'd always go with a local framer so many online places are using plastic instead of glass to reduce postage cost/breakages and it's horrible!

It's manadatory in some cases due to the equally poor quality frame material - they can't support the weight of glass.

We're wanting to have a picture gallary down our staircase - looking at roughly 20 frames of a decent but varying size with wooden (real) frames, semi-ornate. It's a nightmare trying to source them. Any recommendations welcomed.

I'm tempted to make them from stock material.

i used some website i googled and ended up costing me a fortune. was like £400 for 3 frames. quality was outstanding and fully customisable however a lot of people don't appreciate the frame only what is in it.

so ikea IMO is brilliant for cheapness if they will fit into their frames.

Find a local shop you'll pay more but the results are well worth it and you might well get a decent discount on a big order!

I was in ikea thursday and there deep frames are pretty nice as it goes.
