Could you possibly stretch to £105 for a HIS ICEQ x800gto on the graphics card? I think there is quite a difference between the 6600gt and the x800gto. It all depends what games you want to play I suppose. Can you give us a list?

hahaha, yep ive also heard bad things about q-tec but ive had 2 which i built into other peoples computers and theyve been running solid no probs for a year now....porbably best to be on the safeside though :).

i dont no specifically which games, wouldnt harm to say the top end ones like

hl2
doom3

etc

There are a lot of "bob the basic" el cheapo psus that work fine with low power rigs especially ones with minimal drives and onboard sound+video, but even still a q-tec would probly still struggle, as someone said above the Tagan 380 would be a reliable and cheap alternative. I have had a couple of Tagans in my time and had no problems with them.

Do you really need SLI? if not i would probably downgrade the board, change the psu to a tagan 380w and look into getting a X800gto

and if your friend really want to save money, this spec is on a 754 sempron. But i am not sure if 1.6ghz can run games properly and will it bottle neck the card, have to ask the other guys on this forum on this one :D
