No the 7900gt is not as good as the x1800xt. The x1800 is faster, has better image quality and can do AA & HDR at the same time wheras the Nvidia cards can't!

don't wanna argue but...

first ever build and have a 7900gt and its doing all i want at full settings. w/o complaint.

heard the ati cards are power hungry and produce heat and noise in kind.

Don't get me wrong the 7900gt's are a good card but nvidia were trying to compete with the x1900's when they made them. The ATI cards are slightly more noisy and do run hotter (hence more noisy because of the fans) but the image quality is better and they can do things the NVidia cards can't.

The x1800xt is a better card than the 7900gt, period. But they're both good, if you know what I mean.

couldnt agree more.

both cards will be amazing and will do the job. suppose it comes down to display size etc at the end of the day.

whatever spec, good luck! if my experience is anything to go by, you'll have a grand time.

i knew it was a case of 'ask a stupid question.....'

lol

well good luck mate. this is my first build and its been fantastic.
