Ok i know i've asked for a spec many a time but i just want to make sure as i'm ordering tommorow.

I have a case and power supply already, the psu is the Hiper 580W Modular and the case is Tsunami (Thermaltake).

Anyway the rig is for gaming and multimedia rendering and other tasks such as web design etc.

My budget is £700, i need a dvd writer, floppy drive and a big drive, also a cpu with a lot of power.

I'm not the best at computers, so i won't unless needed be overclocking, and the only way i'll overclock is if someone is guiding me through it on msn or something so i don't break anything.

Thanks in advance, as i said i'll be ordering tommorow so... lets hope something good comes out of this :)

Something like this might do, it isn't the greatest motherboard in the world but since you say you are unlikely to be overclocking ought to be easily sufficient for what you require.

Whats the differance between 5300 and 6400 ram? On a DS3 with an e6600?

Aside from the obvious speed you mean? :) I'm not too sure myself beyond the fact that it would be better to match PC6400 with a Conroe 6600 but you could always run a divider if it were necessary.

The DS3 is a better motherboard but it is recommended for overclocking the 6300 or 6400 chips more than the 6600. The reason why I didn't go for PC6400 or a DS3 is because I was trying to stick to the budget plus the PC6400 would be wasted on the current motherboard as it only supports up to PC5300 as I understand it.

If i had the money would you recommend it tho?

Recommend which? The PC6400 isn't worthwhile on with S3 because the S3 appears to only support PC5300 but if you got the faster Ram it would just automatically limit itself to the speed the motherboard would support.

If it is getting the better motherboard then yes I'd probably recommend it but it is going to be slightly wasted if you aren't overclocking.

//edit, my mistake I've just realised that PC4200 is 533mhz and PC5300 is 667mhz so even less point than I previously thought.
