After an unfortunite accident that my PC was blown due to a power surge. I'm now in need of a new mobo/cpu/ram.

My budget is £500, i could stretch £50 extra.

Could you please spec me a decent PC, mainly for gaming, Oveclocking is possible.

I was thinking a conroe, all his will go into an akasa eclipse and with a 7800gt.

Thanks!

Since you had a power surge not sure if you need a new PSU as well??

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £84.99 (£99.86)

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM
£95.99 (£112.79)

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
£164.99 (£193.86)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
£13.99 (£16.44)

OCZ GameXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
£64.99 (£76.36)

Sub Total : £424.95
Shipping : £8.95
Vat : £75.93
Total : £509.83

Fits your budget and highly overclockable. You can replace the PSU with Corsair HX520 or the Tagan TG530 easycon.

If you don't need the PSU then use the extra cash for an E6600.

Already got a Seasonic M12 600w. I thought the DS3 wasn't good with the E6600?

As I understand it, it is more the other way round, a motherboard based on the 975 chipset isn't normally so good for overclocking a 6300/6400 chip because they struggle with the higher FSB speeds needed to get the best out of the lower end Conroes. A motherboard based on the 965 chipset (such as the DS3) will work fine albeit it is normal to pair a 6600 with a 975 based motherboard as it is a higher end chipset. :)

If the parts from your original system that you want to transplant still work then steve258 has given you a good solid system there, you could consider a Tuniq Tower as the CPU cooler but otherwise I can't see anything that is out of place.

Ok, so i'm going to order the following:

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £84.99 (£99.86)

E6600 - OEM

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
£164.99 (£193.86)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
£13.99 (£16.44)

Just hope it overclocks well. ><

Thanks for your info!
