um its been a while since i bought a new pc.

Could yous help me and spec me a new system for around the £350 - £400 mark

I play games like battlefield 2 and cod2 but nothing heavy

Need:-

mobo
processor
memory
graphic card
case

got a gd psu and hard drives already

you don't need such expensive ram really.

cheepest 800mhz stuff should suffice. doesn't really save you much though.

The OcUK Value RAM does not come with heat spreaders though. The Corsair/GeIL/G.Skill kits are roughly £5/6 less. Not a big saving IMO.

If you're overclocking then it will keep the RAM cooler.

Edit: Actually, you can get a 5300 kit. Paired with an E4400, you can still achieve up to 3.3GHz (10 x 333MHz) plus a little bit more if the RAM overclocks slightly.

Here's an updated spec:

As I said above, the E4400 has a x10 multiplier which means you don't actually need very fast RAM. So, you can easily reach 3.3GHz with the 5300 RAM running at stock speed of 667MHz. The RAM will also overclock to some degree, so you have plenty of overclocking potential there.

E.g.
10 x 333MHz = 3.33GHz (RAM running at stock 667MHz)
10 x 350MHz = 3.5GHz (RAM overclocked to 700MHz)

etc etc
