hi guys, i would like to build a new pc but i am on a tight budget, i already have everything from my last build which i can re-use, but i would like to just upgrade to a new motherboard, CPU and RAM.

i have a budget of 300 for these things, really can't go much higher. i need it to last a good few years and still be able to handle tasks well. i do a little bit of encoding/gaming, nothing to hardcore though. was looking at the tri core phenom 2, but maybe you guys could suggest something better?

edit: i have a antec 902 case, a coolermaster silent 700w psu, and a xfx radeon 4850 xxx edtions gpu
Thanks in advance.

Would be best to tell us your current rig otherwise the items we suggest may not work. Mainly the psu not to mention the size of your case.

case is an antec 902
psu is a coolermaster silent 700w
gfx card is an xfx 4850 xxx edition
and 2 samsung f1 320gb hdd's and a 1tb backup drive

My suggestion will run a little over but here goes.

I5 at £135
Assus p7p55d 1156 at £115
Corsair XMS3 (2 X 2GB) at £82
Total= £332

Beasty upgrade though ddr3 system :P

Except he'll need a CPU heatsink for that, as you've specced him the oem chip :p

Get the retail i5, the LE version of the ASUS board above which is 15 quid cheaper, and the Geil 2133MHz DDR3 dual channel memory.
