I have been away from the PC Game for too long, after seeing the sexy hiresolution Bios's I have been bitten by the bug again.

I currently have a family system for everyone which is Q8300 based, with an 8800GT. It does have a very nice Sandisk Extreme 120GB SSD.

But like I said that is for the family.

Im looking to build a sweet gaming PC for when Rome 2 arrives im hoping to build the system for no more then £1200 but this includes a 24" monitor and keyboard and mouse

The only things the system must have is:

Betfenix Prodigy Case <-- love the look of these
256GB SSD <-- I hear Rome 2 is like over 40GB:eek:
24" LED <-- Something as good or Better then the BengQ 24HDL

Cheers

Thats a very interesting Setup DoomedSpeed, is 8GB of Ram still good enough my Macbook Air has that?
Also I have heard the Prodigy has trouble with certain PSU sizes over 140mm length, overall thats a beast of a machine, can I ask why you went for the expensive mobo?

Yeah, 8GB of RAM will be fine for gaming, it's not the amount of RAM it's the speed off it which makes the difference (in gaming). Your macbook would have had 1333mhz RAM or lower, this 2400Mhz RAM will be much faster, you'll notice. :)

That PSU will be fine. being Modular helps. :)

To be honest the only other Z87 ITX was only £15 or so £'s Less..

Ill run you through why i chose it:

  • Gigabyte have great UK customer Service
  • Built in Wifi, Bonus
  • Great Overclocking features
  • Supports the 2400Mhz Memory

It will be a beast of a machine. Im quite jealous. :)

Thanks you have given me a lot to think on, those refurbed h80s still waiting to come in stock.

I have been out of the PC game a while is the 2400mhz memory that big a game changer?
also are the z87 boards that much better then their 70-80 quid underlings?

also one last question you put a standard hd in with the SSD would you have the OS on the SSD and Games on the HD or can windows do something like the fusion drive apple does

They are, a fair few week apparently. Keep youre eyes peeled, they are an absolute bargain.

Not really a huge game changer but it all help, the price is low for something of that quality and speed though. :)

The other boards don't support overclock which (with the 4670k) would be a huge waste..

It also has better features and has (more) SATAIII ports and USB3 Headers

I'm not sure, not that i know of...

I'd use it the way i use mine, SSD as the Boot (OS) and the HDD for the big install and files. :)
