Hi there,

Im now in the market for a new monitor or 2, ive been using 2x 24" Dell 2405/2407 monitors for the last 5+years, both are 1920x1200 and I need to keep this much resolution as a minimum. Having measured my desk id only be able to fit a pair of 28" MAX screens side by side or 1x 32", im running them from a 2008 Macpro with a GTX970 graphics card.

Im use the computer for general browsing, office work, photo editting and gaming (Elite Dangerous and Driving Sims) When playing games I always currently have a movie or browser on my 2nd screen so would like to keep that ability.

Im not sure the best solution for me, 1x large 4k screen, 2x 2560x1200 smaller screens or maybe even a superwide? Ive no real budget set in mind, so if the best solution is too expensive right now ill just wait a few weeks before ordering.

Is there currently a best bang for buck screen? am I going to need a g-sync screen because the GTX 970 will struggle with higher-res gaming?

Thanks for any help and advise, Darryn. :)

I'm in a similar boat in that I have a 24" 1080p screen plus a 20" (1680x1050) secondary monitor (both over 5 years old) and would like to upgrade this setup to something more modern.

I've kind of discounted 4k for now due to windows/app scaling issues (especially on 28" screens). I'd thought about a pair of 27" 1440p monitors but prefer the idea of a single screen as 2 is awkward ergonomically and it would be nice to have a single larger monitor for multitasking.

My current plan was to grab one the Dell 34" 1440 curved ultra-wide at the end of the week providing nothing else is announced during CES:-

There's quite a lot happening on the monitor scene just now with gsync/freesync, ever increasing refresh rates and the possibility of OLED appearing in the next year or two. Makes it difficult to decide whether now is a good time to buy a monitor or not!

Having said that if I start waiting for a 32"+ 144Hz, IPS/AHVA/OLED, Gsync/freesync panel to appear I'll be in for a long wait!

That Dell 34" looks lovely, think ill wait for some reviews about its real world performance before making a decision, its definately on my list now though.
