Hi.y mate wants to upgrade his pc. He plays sum city and planet coaster he says. He has an old i7 930 cpu and a geforce 9800gt. So can you spec me a decent upgrade for him around the £600 mark if possible
 
Wouldn't have thought he would need to spend anywhere near that much. Just a new GPU probably. I'm on an older i7 920 with a GTX970, no problems here.
 
Need more info - what size case does he have, ATX? What PSU does he currently have?

Assuming an ATX case and a PSU with the right wattage and connectors, then this would do.

Or just spend some money on a new GPU, either a GTX 1060 or RX 480 and he'd still see a big improvement - again, assuming his PSU is up to it.

yes he wont need a case. not too sure on the psu.might be a 650w corsair.
am i right in thinking that planet coatser is graphics intensive? he will want high settings thats why i thought a newer cpu would be good too? and some decent ram 8gb at least. he has 4 gb at the moment i think

Zen is coming out in January, I would holdout and see what it brings to the table (a feeling of deflation and disappointment knowing AMD track record of new products but you never know).

He could upgrade the video card now and see an improvement right away with either a Geforce 1050 2Gb or for a bit more power a RX470 4GB.
