Spec me RAM please :)

Hey guys,

I'm after some RAM to go with a mono and cup I got off of MM, and am so behind the times I'm just getting lost

CPU: i5 750
Mobo: msi p55-gd80

Looking to keep the 4.1 clock that Blue160 had, and ideally want 8gb, but on a bit of a budget, so something on the MM would be perfect

I would advise posting a 'Wanted' if you want something on the MM.

If you're after new - 1600 would be idea, but the 2133 is the same price when looking at 8GB!

That's the thing, I'm not sure what I want haha.

So 8gb ddr3 2133mhz, any certain brands I should be after?

If you can get any then Samsung Greens. Tight timings while keeping decent speed (2133mhz) and low voltage. You missed a couple of kits in the MM this past week or so. Look to pay around £45 delivered for a 8GB kit.

That's the ones. I have 16GB (4x 4GB) of the stuff and it still does 2133MHz @9-10-10-21-1T with only 1.5v (seconds and third timings have been tightened up too). It will do 2400mhz too but 2133mhz is the sweet spot between speed and timings.

Speed timings that OCUK could reach on X79 in their testing:-

1600MHz (7-8-8-24 1N) @ 1.40v
1866MHz (9-9-9-27 1N) @ 1.40v
2000MHz (9-10-10-28 1N) @ 1.45v
2133MHz (10-10-10-28 1N) @ 1.45v
2400MHz (11-11-11-28 2N) @ 1.50v
