Spec me rollers and sleeves

I've never painted a freshly plastered wall, but a friend who is in the trade recently did at his home and used a PVA/water mix. Is it a common misconception? Whats the issue with it?

Also what is 'matt contract emulsion'?

I think one of the issues is a lot of trades that don't do the finishing job think its a fix all.
I had a "tiler" tell me to have my bathroom walls plastered and it would be ok as he was going to PVA them afterwards.

2 things wrong with that.
1 plaster wont hold the weight of large tiles.
2 PVA will turn back into its liquid form when its soaked. Which is obviously not a good thing when its meant to be holding onto tiles
