The audiophiles on this forum are going to hate me for most of what I'm about to do.
I have the current capability to pickup any headset I'd like, I'd say my max price is £160, but if you can really convince me that something more expensive is truly worth it, I may budge a little.
Primarily, I game. I used to have Creative HS1100 Arena headset and unfortunately destroyed the USB Sound card by accident a long time ago now. They were decent, but could be better. Since then I've been using various cheap headsets just to talk on skype and so forth whilst I play (I've got some nice speakers).
I have no clue about anything when it comes to the audio department and PCs. So first question, with the spec in my signature, would the Razer Tiamat Elite 7.1 headset have enough ports, is the onboard soundcard capable, or do I need to pick up a good soundcard as well?
If I need a soundcard, which do I need? I'd preferably like to be able to have both my 2.1 speakers and the headset plugged in simultaneously and then switch easily - the Tiamat Elite 7.1 has a nice little controller that I'm keen on.
Are they any good as a headset? This is for gaming, I'm not looking to grab perfect quality, I'm looking for them to work as intended, have an easy set-up, good microphone quality and comfort. Razer imo also keep in the habit of producing equipment that is attractive and polished.
If no, what else can you recommend?
Thanks
