So the other half loves the Sims and wishes she could play it on pc as the console version is horrific.

So how much would it cost to get a pc that would run sims 4 nicely and be used as her day to day machine.

would need everything apart from a case I have a storm scout I can use

My Mrs plays the Sims 4 on her PC which is identically spec'ed with the one in my sig. She does also play far more demanding games on it as well though :D

Although I don't play it, from what I can see the Sims 4 is much less resource intensive than 3 was with all its expansions. A fast dual core, or an I5 should be enough, and as the game is not large address aware you shouldn't need too much RAM (6-8Gb would be plenty). That coupled with a mid range GPU and an SSD to improve loading times should give a good experience.

It may be worth looking into AMD's APU's as a cheaper option, but I have no experience of these with Sims 4.

It would really help if you provided us with a budget.

I have a copy of the latest CustomPC mag infront on me and for a budget PC they recommend:

I had to swap out a few parts not available at OcUK but the price is almost the same.

Their comments on this build:

"The parts you'll need to build a budget machine capable of playing the latest games at maximum settings on a 1080p monitor. The machine has a discrete graphics card, a highly overclockable dual-core CPU and high-speed memory. Meanwhile, the Z97 motherboard gives you headroom to upgrade to a faster CPU later."

I'm fairly sure I had Sims 4 running pretty well on my cousins i5 integrated graphics on her laptop. An APU would be absolutely fine for the game. If she isn't wanting to play anything demanding that is.

There isn't a budget as such, She is not a Gamer by any means so she would only ever play Sims on it, It is her birthday in march so I was wanting to build her a PC she can play Sims 4 on.

It doesn't have to be playing on ultra, just without any stuttering or looking really poor.

Just trying to get an idea of cost

Here are two. APU and CPU+GPU. Both can go down in cost with cheaper parts. Vice versa, they can be improved (better PSU etc).

Also, if she won't need much storage to begin with, a 128 or 250GB SSD would be nice in place of a mech drive and make general usage snappier.

This is useful as my nipper is looking to upgrade his PC to play the same game, and I was hoping the G3258 would be sufficient :)
