moving the ram over to my server 4x1GB Geil ULL

need some new ram, may as well future proof now seeing as i need ram one way or another.

board is a Asus Maximus Formula SE with latest BIOS

cpu is a Q6600 - aiming for 4gig on air

is 2x2GB better than 4x1GB, seeing as im am looking for 4gig, 2x2GB = less stress on NB

Loving my G.Skill PC8000 TBH. Reviews i've seen say it clocks well (although i've never had to try) and the price is reasonable.

what about the balistix, dont like the g.skill's, they are blue, my rig is orange and black, the blue would so clash lol, not a good reason i know but...... heh!

Only problem with the obove is your limited to only using 2 sticks of ram, but then i see no reason my you'd want more than 4GB anyway.

I was advised to go with 4x1GB as apposed to 2x2GB as the ram is generally more stable when overclocking. although as you have pointed out the the northbridge will be under more stress. so i guess it depends on how well you motherboard is cooled.

Although more expensive i liked the ballistix range. Went for the pc6400 and overclocked to pc8000 speeds. by changing the timings from the pc6400 4-4-4-12, to 5-5-5-18 as per the pc8500 memory.
