Hello all.
I have a bathroom... 3500 x 1650 x 2450 (LxWxH)
I reckon 3 recessed spots are the way to go. LED?

I'd like the 3rd spot to be an extractor too, they'll all need to be zone 1/2 rated

One over the bath, on in the middle and one over the shower.

Would this be an ideal use of 12v?

What are you thoughts :)

Depends if you want to lie in the bath and stare up at an LED light.
Personally I can shower in the dark so I don't need one there.

One over the loo and lighting around the mirror,
I'd also have a dimming arrangement for midnight visits, you don't want to be blinded.

Iirc the ceiling is a different zone, so 240 ok,

Over the shower I'm not sure, I don't like the combined fan-light idea though.

Hmm well that's boo boo'd everything I thought I wanted :D

I know LED's can be a little harsh but I think we're going for wood effect floor, grey walls and white shower and bath. All very contemporary...

The light/extractor idea was stolen from the OH's parents new en suite...

LED Spots work well in my bathroom. 3 over the toilet/sink/floor area, and 1 (combined extractor) in the shower. I would agree that you probably don't want spots over your bath, but if you want to be a girl they have candles for that sort of thing.

Think something like this might work out fine.

I would have 2 switches 1 for shower and 1 for room lights so you dont need to have the extractor coming on when you dont want it. Dimming as mentioned by bitslice would also make it more versatile.

This might sound daft but is a dimmer really practical in a bathroom? If the light switch/dimmer is outside would it no make sense to have the lights on as you enter the room and then maybe just the shower lights/extractor on a pull cord?

They make dimmer pull cords - just hold cord down to dim etc but these might not be compatible with leds

Some LEDs are constant current and don't dim until. Have a look on aliexpress, there is a lot more choice than in the UK. We have switch (pullcord) dimmable LEDs in the bathroom as I like to lie in the bath with a dim light but the wife like a big bright shower.

I'd either have 4 in an L shape as above (minus the one closest to the door) or 6 and have them symmetrical.

Or change the one closest to the door to a speaker.

I think I'm going to go with one of these in the shower operated off a pull cord (maybe just switch it from the same spot as the other 3 but on a separate gang outside the door.)

and

A pack of these, in much the same pattern as above. The vanity unit she likes has a soft light on it for a dim bath or for midnight pee usage :)

For any body who cba to follow the links- The first link is a shower light and extractor fan kit from screwfix, the second link is a 3 pack of chrome 12v MR16 downlights
