Been renting a house with Virgin Broadband included for 3 years so haven't shopped around for a while.

Virgin have been fine but it seems quite expensive having a quick look on their site.

Any good deals at the moment? Any deals with no line rental? (we don't need a landline)

Will be living in London if that makes a difference.

Cheers

Have a look on samknows.com or uswitch, see what providers you have in your area. The only real way to do it.

If you do see that BT or somebody is a good fit then make sure you go through top cashback or quidco.

Will do, cheers

Never BT.

I am currently having major issues with them and actually turning my fibre on.

Ah I was swaying toward BT for the sports. I had BT about 10 years ago and they were terrible but was hoping they had sorted themselves out.

It's worth bearing in mind that whoever you go with, there's only really two internet providers, Virgin and BT. Virgin don't lease their lines but BT do, so every other ISP is just BT internet resold by another company.

I don't know what you get in your area, but in my area BT only offer 76Mbps (their max speed nation wide), where as Virgin offer 300Mbps (also their max national speed) so it's a no brainer really.

BT offers 52Mbps with TV and Sport for £6 less than Virgin's 30Mbps service.

Through Quidco with £140 cashback.

I like Virgin but with that saving and extras I think I'll go BT. Spoken to a couple of friends that have BT with no issues, they're in Leeds though so may be different in London. I'd imagine London would be better.

Except it's not that simple as in many areas Virgin Media have well documented congestion issues.

True.

As said we don't pay for Internet but I'm pretty sure it is a 100Mbps connection costing close to £50 a month and we only get around 26Mbps, which we are perfectly happy with but obviously not what is paid for.

I pay close to £50 a month and 'only' get 45 down and 18 up. But that's 24/7 and a TBB graph flat as a pancake.

I wouldn't thank you for a VM connection unless I ran dual WAN.

You're right. I meant to add something to that effect but forgot. I was going to say check with neighbours (if possible) and see what they get.

Yes, the local infrastructure is shared, but there are many other things to consider, including congestion, transit, peering, customer service, and authentication, to name a few.

You got a link please? Can only find one with £90. GF needs a new ISP and doesn't need anything special like Virgin's 300Mb service, cash back on top would be sweet :D.
