I'm not really an audiophile so buying headphones is a bit of a minefield for me so i'd appreciate some advice.

They'll be used exclusively with my PC through a FiiO BTA30 (bought a couple of years ago when I thought I might use old wireless headphones) for music (rock and blues mostly), Youtube and some gaming. Absolute max budget is £200 and all day comfort is important.

Thanks

Beyerdynamic DT770 would check physical comfort with velour pads giving some breathing.

Thanks guys.

If I really wanted to push the boat out would the DT 700 Pro X's at £209 be a good upgrade over the DT770's or would they be wasted on someone like me who isn't an audiophile and doesn't have a high end DAC?

Looking at this review I’d go for the DT700 Pro x as a 5 star review from whatHifi is honestly worth the extra cash and it’s not thaaaat much more.

You can easily spend £1000 on a pair of headphones, £209 is a very reasonable price.

Easily replaceable mini-XLR plug using cable is certainly upgrade for longevity.
DT770's cable is fixed and soldered and lot harder to replace, if cable suffers accident.

Dt700 pro x ,i got mine from polar audio on ebay for £169 and although they are easily driven i use hipdac2 , you really don't have to be an audiophile to be blown away with then and i often use with youtube videos, I have the ahd2000s and these are better (also having 2 detachable cables is great)

from the headphonia review

Long story short, when paired with a solid source, those were – by far – the best closed-back headset I encountered those past years. The dynamic range is insane, the sound pressure is majestic, and the linear sound signature leaves tons of room for audio professionals, as well as audiophiles like me, who like to tweak.
