I'm getting a bit tired of reaching under my desk to access the basic, 3 stage manual fan controller on the front of my Corsair 400r so I think it's time for an upgrade. I might change a few fans while I'm at it as well.

I've currently got an ek dcp2.2, 2 scythe GTs on 1 rad, the 2 Corsair 120mm led fans on a second rad, 140mm exhaust fan and the massive led side intake fan.

Ideally I'd want to keep LEDs on the front rad fans so I'm thinking Corsair is still the way forward?

In terms of control I'm guessing and Aquaero 5 LT is the best thing I can get but there's a huge amount of add ons and options and I don't want to end up ordering the wrong things!

Is the Aquaero the best tool for the job? And if so could someone spwx me a load of sensors and fans please? :)
 
i recently bought a NZXT Sentry LXE External fan controller that sits on my desk.

It has a pci like card ( although it doesnt connect to the pci bus just sits in the slot ) that has the connectors for the fans.

On the back of that there is a slot of the cable to connect you external controller to and then that sits on my desk. very handy and can be bought for around £50

I have the aquero 5lt it does the job very well. For water temps just tape one of the temp sensors around a fitting if you don't want to pay for the Aqua comp sensor which is just a fitting with one of the sensors you get with the aquero wrapped aroun the fitting with a plastic collar holding it in place. Add open hardware monitor and you can monitor cpu and gpu. You can also get the led for aquaro res, but for some reason I can get it working the way I want.

As for fans I'm looking at the new ek varders

Works great and massively extendible. I'm controlling 12 fans from 7 hardware sensors including controlling my D5 PWM pump, all from the Aquero LT (with a Poweradjust t3 to power 4 of my 140mm fans).

Personally I use Aida 64 for sending component temps to the aquero as I found it more user freindly. Does have a cost implication though as you need the full version to be able to send lots of values.

All my fans are Noiseblocker black silent PL2 or PK2...

Does aida montor gpu voltages, would like to monitor fps in aquaro but that seems a long shot.

One thing I don't like about the aquaro is that it always opens on my main screen in desktop mode unless I have it in window mode.
 
Will the 5 LT manage my pump OK with it only being a small, old one? It's deathly silent anyway so I usually just run it on full!

Yes, Aida64 does monitor all temps (in the full version).

GPU / CPU / CPU Core / MOSFET etc.

Personally I think that the Aquaero is the way to go, I have two of them and they are excellent.
If you want the LED's then you could switch to the Farbwerk as well from Aquacomputer.

Just does the job and exceptionally well. A little bit of a steep learning curve setting up at first, but once understood all pretty straight forward. I've loved playing with all the settings and creating an uber complex dashboard showing everything from hardware sensor temps, to pump speed, fan speeds and GPU/ CPU clock/ memory and multiplier speeds...
 
Only one I haven't tried to do yet is FPS... Probably a way though :-)

Might have a look tonight ;-)

I thought this, and then I realised I had to change the advanced settings because Speedfan's big downfall is the way it's configured by default.

This guide is in depth, but excellent. After reading this, I now have all my fans controlled according to relevant temperature readings like mobo and GPU and obviously CPU.

Tried Speedfan again, still can't get it to change the speed of my fans :(

I'm going to grab an Aquaero next week and replace a load of my case fans. e-Loops will fit my colour scheme best and from what I've read they're about on par with GTs and Vardars. Any suggestions on which is the best version to go with? My GTs are 1400rpm - I think they might be a tad on the slow side but at the same time I don't want to go with the 2400rpm if it's still a howler even at half speed

Did you do this part :

The next step is to enable the fan controls, which often don't work by default. In the "Advanced" tab, select the controller chip for the fans in the drop down menu. The "PWM modes" determine how the fans are controlled. In this case, "Smart Fan IV" is code for BIOS/UEFI control. Change all of them to "Manual" (sometimes it will be called "Software control") and remember to check the "remember it" box in the bottom right hand corner for each PWM mode so the setting will stick.

Change the RPM number on the front page to 100 for all fans, and make sure the check box for Automatic Fan Speed is not checked.

If your fans don't ramp up, then your MoBo may not be compatible.

Definitely doesn't work. Checked the Speedfan website and it's not listed as compatible.

Nevermind, I've just ordered an Aquaero 5 LT and a couple of Vardar 120ER's :)
