Well

After getting me a corsair 520w psu afew weeks back after my Q-tec blew..

( Some eagle eyed members might remember me saying all my stuff was gone.. Turns out the psu i was testing with was duff too :o )

Im looking into getting a CPU cooler and some case fans to shove the air about, as im planning to OC my 4200, as i cant afford any major upgrades yet.

So im looking to spend about £50 on the lot... Try not to go over but afew quid will be ok ;)

**edit**

Im socket 939 btw ...

Ah sorry, 120mm fans please :D

Was looking at that cooler, Looks good.. But ive heard afew good things about other coolers too. Just need afew opinions to help me choose which one.

Hey

I've just brought a Sythe Infinity cooler (from OcUK) as that recently came out best in CustomPC's CPU HSF megatest for sAM2 (should be fine for s939), it's relatively quiet (from what I've heard, will update in this thread tomorrow when it's been delivered)
& at £31.74 inc. VAT it's pretty fairly priced.

Also, for case fans I'm primarily using Sharkoon Silent Eagle 80mm fans as they also came out top in CustomPC's megatest (of case fans, shockingly ;) )
You can pick those up for around a fiver each for the 80mm variants, so just google that as OcUK don't stock then.
Although I've reccomended Sharkoon Silen Eagles, as long as you do a little research on the brand/model you're looking at before you buy the case fans I doubt you'll be dissapointed, they all do the same job, it's just noise that usually differs.

Hope this helps ;_;

well my opinion is you cant beat the ninja rev b as you dont need to remove the mobo to fit it... the others you do... and you dont need to use a fan on it although there is one supplied (if your not overclocking you wont need it)

That's true, although one of my friends has the ninja (rev. B) and he couldnt fit the thing without removing his mobo from his case (DFi Lanparty Ski something-or-other mobo + a -something- Lanboy case)
Plus (this just be my friend's set-up) it only performed around the same as his stock hsf without a fan attatched (now, with the fan attatched, it's pretty immense by any standards).
(This is running a s939 4600x2 @ stock speeds btw)
Then again, might just be the air-flow in his case...

Sorry paul_64l, I don't mean to just be posting this to contradict you, just to show my experiences with that product in particular.

i said he coud use it without and he can... most mobo's dont need to be taken out tho.. i suppose it all depends on the board...

what board have you got btw

Probably not the best brand.. But its a EQS A72K9-CF ...

Most of my spec is what i got back from the insurance company after a house fire last year.. Hence the Q-tec psu etc etc .. But slowly upgrading as i go.

My hard-drives are maxtors :p I know they aint the best too. Thats why i dont name them in my sig :p

I'd recommend the Noctua NH-U12F as paul did. (see sig review) and I would suggest Yate Loons or even Noctua S12's both are superior to other fans on the market, the Loons have the best overal performance - air pressure + noise.

where's that then ? lets see user pics not a websites review ? don't believe everything you read.Until i see end users showing me pics of these coolers
running an overclocked cpu cooler than a 120 i'll take my hat off until then...
The only review that matters is end user i'd like to see an overclocked full orthos
load temps comparison otherwise it's pointless.Doesnt even take into account how the arctic silver etc is applied.

End user are not or very rarely are going to test heatsinks as much as a proper trusted review site. Taking into consideration a controlled ambient enviorment, several mounts and then an average taken.

Also this was end user, someone on XS did a heat sink round up including different push and pull modes and the Tuniq Tower didn't come out on top. He doesn't run a site and the heat sinks were his not review samples.

Edit:

Proof enough that the Tuniq is actually surpassed by at least two coolers?

I want to see cooler reviews which use the same fan on all the coolers. I dont like it when coolers are compared when one has the rubbish stock fan while the other has a higher quality/cfm fan.

Surely testing coolers with the same fan is a better guage of performance.

Kind of and kind of not too.

Yeah you're right that you would be testing the actual heatsink itself (the review I pointed to did use an S-Flex as a controlled test).

Yet on the other hand, you're not testing the product itself as people pruchasing based on the review would have to swap the fan out for another.

Umm noob question.. But with the scythe fans ... do you get 3 ? Cause theres 3 in the picture :p And it says "fans" in the description and not "fan"

the ninja comes with 1.. well mine did.. i wuld like an extra fan but would ned to source the brackets for it
