Spec me some deep and fun co-op/multiplayer games

Looking for a new game to play with friend.

We've tried most of the trending survival stuff like DayZ, WarZ, 7 Days to die, Minecraft, etc, so nothing too similar to those.

My mate doesn't like MOBAs so DOTA2 and LoL are out of the equation, which is a shame cos I do

We've tried most MMOs but anything other than WoW(already played that to death) we would consider, as long as it has decent controls and the gameplay is enjoyable.

Other than that it can be anything. Just want something a bit different and fun, something to get into and be immersed in. Any ideas?

How about Torchlight 2? It's not my kind of game really, but I tried it out with the missus and it's actually pretty fun.
