Just RMAd my Logitech mouse and I have the option of either posting the old recevier and power supply to them, or destroying the mouse and sending them some pictures of the horror.

I feel the latter option would be most satisfying, as well as having the added bonus of not incurring any postage costs.

So I put it to you, OcUK, what would be the most effective way to bring the life of this lame mouse to an end?

I wouldn't smash it past the point of recognition. They might want a photo of the serial number on the bottom and if you ruin it, you might end up out of pocket.

Continuing the fire theme (FIRE GOOD!), the classic can of deodorant and a lighter.

Or open it and fill it with those explosive paper caps you get for toy guns, and set them off. BOOM!

What sort of destructive tools do you have at your disposal? A 6lb lump hammer and one hit* ought to be sufficient to render it beyond any further use. Drive over it, drop a metal manhole cover on it from a great height, play baseball/rounders with it.

*unless you are cack handed and miss repeatedly.

There needs to be some of the mouse left to prove I've destroyed it, so thermite is sadly out of the question. :p

We have (read: my Dad has) a garage full of all kinds of manual and power tools, so I have the potential to cause some serious mouse havoc.

Seems the general consensus is to smash or burn it. I could do both. :D

lol i need to do the same thing, best suggestion wins and will post pics of the before and after ;) Lets hope its as strong as the Toyota pickup on Top Gear :D

Big office water bottle. Aluminium foil balls in the bottom. Wrap 'ze mouse around the bottle. Fill bottle about a third of the way with drain cleaner (that delightful caustic stuff from B&Q with NaOH in it) and stick the lid on.

Make sure there are no humans or animals within 30-40 feet of said bottle. :)

I went the easy way in the end and just lump hammered it.

Took a good couple of whacks though. Logitech build quality is pretty good. :D

Pictures coming momentarily.

Edit: And here they are:
