Evening champs and champettes, my next step up in my career is to account manager, and this requires a lot of understanding of profit & loss.

I have a fairly decent understanding of it all and will learn on the fly but it'd be good to have an actual course(s) to fill in the gaps and have some credibility.

A degree would take far too long and due to the nature of my work I can't always commit so I'm looking for smaller courses that I can do piecemeal, hopefully in steps.

I've just completed my ILM 3 and will likely be starting ILM 4 in the next few months but that focuses on leadership & management, but I like the progression it offers so am looking for something similar but with financial stuffs.

Any ideas pls?

For short courses + not worried about official credentials or academic credit then there are quite a few MOOCs out there now, might as well take some from the world's best business school:

Specifically, this might be where you'd want to start:

Secondary to that, if you want more depth than the intro/MBA stuff, then you could always obtain some of the professional Accountancy training material, if you're not actually studying for the exams but just reading it for a bit of background then it's not going to take over your life, you can dip in and out of the stuff you need, like search for CIMA or ACCA books on ebay or use electronic resources.

Lastly, if you're not already in that role, just be away lots of account management roles are very much sales related, might not want to neglect that either, gotta be wary with some of this stuff as it's an area full of pseudoscience and self help guru types but some sales training could be very worthwhile. There's YouTube stuff out there, maybe books like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Friend-Foe-Cooperate-Compete-Succeed/dp/0307720217

Lastly this might be worth a look:
