Spec me some games

Hey all, been a bit of a PSO/WOW addict the past few years and the only real game i've played on the pc for a while has been CSS and some BF2. My pc is a bit ageing, but getting a new PC with 8800GTS in a month or so, so I need some games to play on it.

At the moment the first will be BF 2142, i like that kind of game :)

Any other reccomendations to make use of my new gaming 'rig ?

Also out of interest, Vista 64 bit or stick with Xp for now?
 
if your into MMO's then LOTR is worth a punt. Its quite a heavy hitter when it comes to playing at the highest settings so it needs a plenty of ram and I would have thought your graphics card should be fine.

I can play with most things on high with my ageing system and not have an issue, although it does make my card quite warm!

With regards to your OS I keep seeing posts talking about the horrors of vista and games. If you want to go to vista, and we all will have to eventually then wait until some of the service packs start to role out, then think about making the jump from XP.
 
could have a look at rainbow six vegas or command and conquer 3 thats what im working on at the moment

as for OS im on vista64 have had some problems with it for gameing some are abit buggy like quake 4

Well, the old pc has been upgraded too much lol, its getting creaky, atm it has a x1600 and 1.5GB of ram. Still cant run bf2142 demo on high settings at 1280x1024 very well, its acceptable, but thats about the limit of it. Still only running a barton 2500+ :) (oh back in the day when I ran it at 2.44GHz it was immense :D )

I played the c&c 3 demo, but wasnt overly impressed. Think i need to give supreme commander a try, i forgot about that until you mentioned c&c 3.
