I know, i know, this thread has been done so many times, but my medusa's have gone wrong (ie, i've ruined the cable with my chair, and half the earphne speakers are rattling around)

Now i can't find where to get a replacement set (just the set, it's the 5.1 pro gamer edition, so not usb or stereo jack versions) but instead of getting medusas again, what else would be good?

Don't particularly want to go above £50, won't uses them a massive ammount, main need is comfort.. oh, and a mic. I'll be using onboard sound, so won't need anything that sounds truley awesome.

Cheers in advance for your time (i need these for i34 by the way...)

My £17 in-ear Sennheiser's sounded better than my Medusa's and gave more bass, so I'd say Sennheiser 555's which are around £50-60 I believe, I personally use 595's and they are excellent, the Medusa's couldn't dream of sounding so good.

Also my Senns give a much more realistic surround effect (using Dolby Headphone) than my "5.1" Medusa's.

Cheers for that.

Couple more questions to add, just because they are cheap, what are the medusa stereo's like (do they actually have a working mic?)

Also, the creative fatal1ty headset can be had for pretty damned cheap, are they worth the just-over-twenty-quid price tag?

I have the creative one and it's best headset I've ever had so far under the 60quid range.

Nothing to complain about really, very good set both in terms of comfort, sound and the mic is good as well.

i had the Creative Fatal1ty set for a while but i found them cheap and flimsy, the thin plastic above the right ear eventually snapped. Got medusa's now and there as good as if not better and cheaper.

I have the SteelSound 5HV2 they are incredibly comfortable, the mic is great too. I went from Sennheiser PC150 to 5HV2 and comfort wise they are much better.

Got the SteelSeries Siberia White Gamers Headset With Detachable Microphone (just google that) and they're good :)

Very comfy although I haven't tried the mic.

As of rule of thumb I would say avoid 'gaming' headsets, most just use the word gaming to reel in the noobs, some exceptions of course.

After buying into Speedlink Medusa 5.1's I'm never touching a 'gaming' one again, Sennheiser 595's + separate mic and loving it. ;)

The SteelSound 5hv2 and 4h being an exception, a set of these headphones and a copy of BF2, its like a whole new game. ;)

(as used by Rodney Reynolds, a guy who can have anything he wants) :D
