Spec me some good sci fi films.

Glad someone said The Thing, brilliant film, I only watched it for the first time about a month ago, the re-mastered Blueray version is incredible ,looks so good for a 20yr old film.

It's one of the best Science Fiction movies of all time.

I shudder to think what the new one is going to be like. I hope it isnt all CGI but if it is I hope its well done and discreetly done at that.

I'm not saying that the people who do CGI are not hard working I'm sure they are but it dosent look like it and thats why most CGI looks pretty meh.

When you see some of the stop motion stuff and pyhsical effects you can see the hard work and creativity thats gone into it , it looks far superior to CGI.

Starship Troopers (1st 1)
Total Recall
Running Man
Escape from LA ( I think this and New York are set in the future?)
Escape from New York
Innerspace
Robocop

You know in all the time I've been posting here and said things to Tefal, he hasn't once responded to anything I've said.:(

You just gotta know how to talk to him :p (that or insult him :D)

One that hasn't been mentioned yet (I think): "The Road", very depressing but very good. I think you'll like it based on your obsession with Stalker.

Going retro: The Forbidden Planet

Primer

Bit of a mind fuuu but is really well done.

At night and on weekends, four men in a suburban garage have built a cottage industry of error-checking devices. But, they know that there is something more. There is some idea, some mechanism, some accidental side effect that is standing between them and a pure leap of innovation. And so, through trial and error they are building the device that is missing most. However, two of these men find the device and immediately realize that it is too valuable to market. The limit of their trust in each other is strained when they are faced with the question, If you always want what you can't have, what do you want when you can have anything?

Brazil - a classic featuring a brilliant performance by Michael Palin (just one of many brilliant things about the film).

This. A must see. The best film Terry Gilliam ever made.

The Thing

and if you haven't seen it "They Live" .

John Carpenters Sci-Fi films are very good, I'd like to add 'Dark Star' to that list. Damn beaten.

Also 'This Island Earth' from the 1950's if you want classic Sci-fi.
