Need some new clippers and a recommendation for a good set.

I had some cordless Philips ones which cut nice and short (I'm a baldy and shave my whole head with no guard on the closest settings once a week), but they died and I replaced them with some BarberBoss ones from Amazon which are hopeless in comparison, not as sharp and get nowhere near as close.

Can someone recommend something decent please, corded is fine if the cable is a couple of metres long, cordless certainly more flexible.

There's a corded Wahl set on Amazon for £45 on offer, which look decent, but I don't want to buy another poor set.

I certainly fall in the category of buy cheap buy twice!

I've got some Wahl ones which are good. Not tried any others to compare though.
Wahl sell reconditioned ones on their eBay store for good prices.
 
Would also be interested in recommendations as shaving my head with this with no guard I want something that follows the contours of my weird noggin better. Anyone tried those skull shavers?
 
I've used cordless Philips for years usually on a zero but now sticking to a number 5 for the last few months.
If you liked your cordless Philips just buy them again, it's what I'd do.
 
i would say just get some wahl corded super tapers since they are one of the old tried and trusted clippers used by many pro barbers.

but there is a couple of points, they know how adjust them and they probably use them with guards and not like you want to use them

maybe look into wahl balding clippers ?

Wahl Balding is the best for you nothing comes close

Phillips are a jack of all trades master of none.

Their TV's are rubbish (LG are current kings of OLED and Samsung non OLED and Sony for budget FALD), air fryers again overpriced compared to cosori. Phillips still does make a couple of good products still I think their car lights are okay as well as some battery/torch gear. But they definitely do not come close in the clipper market.

I’m in the fortunate/unfortunate (your call), position of being in the possession of plenty of barnet for my age, 82 next week if I’m lucky, it’s not as thick as a yard broom anymore but it covers all my nut, with imperceptible thinning but no hole at the crown.
Prior to the lockdown and the closure of my barber, I’d go every 6-7 weeks and have a 1.5 at the sides and back and 2 on top.
A couple of months in and I had visions of eventually looking like a roadie for The Eagles, but with a few more lines on my face.
I surfed the net and found some Ckeyi N Chinese hair clippers, I think that they were circa £30, and I leaned heavily on my wife to do the best that she could with them.
She’s no Vandal Monsoon, but she did a more than passable job I thought, although she didn’t cut it short enough IMO, she countered this by saying, “You are the vainest S.O.B. that I know, and if you thought that I didn’t make you look cool, you would have been all over me like a cheap suit.”
I’ve been more than satisfied with the job that they and my wife did, but I’m only too happy to be back visiting my barber where a Greek father and his three sons own and run the place.
On my first time back, Nick the elder son said, “Jesus Jean, who’s been cutting your hair, the Council?”

I love videos reviews like that, no nonsense from guys (or gals) who actually use the things and give honest reviews and no click bait bull.

I’ve got a Philips TV in the living room, it’s honestly the worst TV I’ve ever had. I’ll be sticking with Samsung for TV when I require a new one.
 
Yeah without a doubt Wahl are the best. Have a cordless one for 10 years or so now and never misses a beat. Just use a bit of mineral oil on them now and again to keep them lubed :D
 
Been meaning to start the same thread.

I've gone through a few sets of cheaper clippers which are all on their way out (Wahl, Phillips, Babyliss) and now want to invest in a professional set.

I've looked into the Walh super taper and balding clippers both of which get good reviews.
Note I'm looking to do taper cut and not a clean shave all over.

Also looking into the Babyliss super clipper XTP as they also get good reviews.

Are there any others worth looking into?
