I bought a set of Technics RPF350`s from a hight street retailer that begins with "A" ;) for £29.99 and they are absolutly amazing through my x-fi. A hell of a lot better than both my previos ones ( zalman 5.1, Sennheiser PC150 ).

If you can stretch to £65, buy some Sennheiser HD280 Pros off Ebay. They're rated as not bad cans at the RRP of £110, so for £65 they're a cracking buy. The quality on them is excellent for music considering the price, and they're closed so good for games, and not letting noises around you distract you so much, and also they dont leak noise too much, so not bad if your mum comes into your room while you're listening to music.
The bass etc reproduction is pretty clear and clean for headphones too (am listening to Super Metroid Energy Tank OC Remix - dance track right now, and I can feel the bass, not oppressively, but you can certainly hear it rumbling away in the background, but not rediculously so).
For the price, I cant rate them highly enough, they blow my Sennheiser PC150 out of the water for pure audio, but I have my PC150s for gaming and TS.
They can also go pretty loud if your soundcard supports it- my old music tech teacher once demonstrated this with some he had, by turning the Marantz Headphone Multi-out amp up rigged to the classes 18 sets of HD280 Pro headphones, and used them as speakers without much noticeable distortion. As you can imagine I was slightly impressed, and the quality they've got for £65 cant be shrugged off IMO.

Here's a linky: (they're brand new with warranty)

PS. Perhaps you can tell, but for the price, I REALLY like these headphones, good bass, good clarity, good frequency range, good price :D

Also can the suround sound head phones play music very well?

Simply, no. Very poor quality compared to stereo sets. Generally not worth using them; acceptable quality in games (though the build quality of most the sets is poor too), but dissapointing with music.

I bought the same Technics (probably from the same retailer), they're fantastic for the price.

They are probably not available now... but i recently dug a pair of about 9 year old jvc HA-D515 speakers out of my wardrobe. My god they still sound amazing... to me. :p

i used the sennheiser pc150s for gaming/ts etc and they are great. dont know about their music performance though as i generally use my speakers
