Hi, i am after a good pair of headphones to listen music with. Im not bothered about them being good for gaming, just for music. I have the x-fi sound card but not the big external thingy for it. The headphones must be able to plug into the back of the sound card. I have a 5.1 setup atm through the x-fi and i dont mind taking them out for the headphones.

Dont really want to spend more than £50, but if if there is something for a bit more that is better i may change my mind :).

Hmm well I'll stick up for my Sennheiser headphones (eH250) that I originally bought for playing my electric guitar and playing drums along to music from the computer as they are sound-insulating headphones. Fantastic quality sound, great bass and the sound is clear but not "clinical;" still has a kind of warmth to the sound. I think they were about 50 euros from my local guitar shop who matched an online price :)

got some Sennheiser 515 which i demo'd in the shop and sounded fantastic, will give a better answer tommorrow when i can unwrap them (birthday present)

are you jesus?

veg, cant get much better in the £50 price range, are you mad?

sennheiser hd515
sennheiser hd485

and im sure the list goes on

yea its gotta be outa the sennheiser range, id say either 555's or 485's, i cant see 595's being £50 or under tbh, but if they are get them.

555's are good is the general opinion of head-fi i think, hd485 are also good, id say its outs them two, hd485 is more bassy and hd 555 is more relaxed and probably better sound quality slightly, so id choose between them two.

well ive had time to try out the hd515's today and can say they are really good headphones, sounded a little tinny at first compared to the logitech set i was using but then the realisation that its more detail coming through, you can really pick out individual guitar notes being played.

comfort is second to none, a couple of times ive thought i was listening to speakers as when you start playing through your music its easy to forget you have the headphones on.

highly recommended :)

He did say he'd spend a bit more if there was something better :)

It also depends where you are listening as if you don't want to bother other people you might want to go closed back rather than open.
