With Halloween approaching I will be looking for a Horror film to watch with the Wife this Saturday.
So spec me please, something that has been released recently and none of them torture porn movies as they are for wierdos :D
Man thanks in advance.

Candyman
The Conjuring
The Fly

For something a bit more light-hearted...

Cabin in the Woods
Shaun of the Dead
Dog Soldiers

EDIT: Just noticed you said "recently"....

Under the Skin (total Marmite movie)
It Follows

You're going to notice a theme here:o

Poltergeist - ORIGINAL!!!
The Fog - ORIGINAL!!!
The Omen - ORIGINAL!!!

More Recent:

White Noise

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

These are more 'Ma' and 'Pa' orientated:p:cool:

You could always up the stakes with the obvious:

Halloween - Original!!!
A Nightmare on Elm Street - Original!!!

If Ma complains:

Something a bit new, It Follows
This was pretty good. Unique, stylish and with a great general premise.

I also liked The Babadook.

I love horror movies, but unfortunately feel 95% of them are totally awful(either dumb or not scary), but I think these were actually totally worth watching.

heard good things about Babadook but never got round to seeing it.

IT Follows, while a cracking idea for a film was just utter tripe for me. about as scary (apart from the odd foreboding scene) as a stroll on the beach

It Follows is ok, but it's not even 1 iota scary, it's more of a thriller.

The Babadook has some decent frights in it, that gets another vote from me.

There's no decent modern horror

Hammer horror films,Dracula prince of darkness

Silent night deadly night
Madman Mars
The prowler
Maniac 1980
The shining
Salem's lot

I've already compiled a list as I'm doing practically the same thing. My selection is trying to get something from every genre:

Frankenstein - classic universal
The Grudge - ghost (I don't think the foreign original is going to come in time!)
The Nightmare Before Christmas - family
Return of the Living Dead - zombie / comedy
Event Horizon (Sci-Fi)
Shark Attack 3: Megalodon - ***** shark film
Scream / Urban Legend - slasher / teen
Cabin in the Woods - this is just a perfect way to end it... those who have seen it.... not a peep from you for fear of spoiling it for others :p

Return of the Living Dead is simply the zombie movie in my back.

I would add the exorcist if I hadn't seen it so recently. Amazing film.

Halloween (1978)
The Orphanage
The Lost Boys

I'll probably watch The Lost Boys, it's been a few years since I saw it last and it has an epic soundtrack.
