Hello,

I've recently acquired a Peugeot 306 HDi, and will be keeping it for the forseeable future, due to being a skint student and doing a fair few miles.

I've got to be honest - the standard speakers are..well, crap. So I'm looking to upgrade

I already have a decent headunit (a Kenwood unit I've had for a couple of years) - and can fit an amp if needed. I'm thinking that component speakers may be the best way forward, can anyone recommend any in the £50ish range? I'm willing to spend more if the quality reflects the price.

Thanks :)

I've got some Alpine SPG 17CS components in mine, can be had for about £85 but I reckon you can probably get ones essentially as good for less. they do sound good though. I did have to knock up some MDF rings for them to fit but I think in the 306 that's quite common.

Main reason for posting is to let you know that if you've got electric mirrors, you can get interior mirror caps with tweeter slots in them, part numbers 9015 P4 and 9015 P5, they're about £1.30 each or so from Pug.

For car hi-fi on a budget, I've always gone for amplified sub, components up front and cheaper 2 ways in the rear. I try to use factory holes if available for the smaller speakers.

If you've got the phono-out and amp-on wire on your head unit, this should work.

Yep, I've had my amp and sub in my other cars, no worries about that, but i'm just wondering what I should go for component-wise.

PardonTheWait - thanks mate, i'll have a look around :)
