I've been tasked with making some infused alcohol for Glastonbury festival, a bunch of us all make a surprise concoction at home and share it around.

Been doing this off and on for years now, and have pretty much run out of ideas.

Anyone got any good ones? Only got about 3 weeks now so hopefully not left it too late.

I don't tend to like Vodka which is often the 'best' base spirit for infusions, more of a rum man myself.

Well...lemon rind, which is basically how you make limoncello, orange rind? or lime, or mix them all together. All these will need sugar though to be authentic and you will need to get the wax off the fruit first.

Chilli ?

Or the classic skittles, best to stick to 1 colour.

Rum can be good infused too, but usually more subtle like cherries, vanilla, orange etc. It might make it a bit sweet though. The ones I've tried tend to be so usually stick to spiced

This book might be worth grabbing for some inspiration

You could do a fat wash on whisky/bourbon and do some classic cocktails.

Sounds weird but it does improve the booze.

Pineapple infused rum could work also.

You could try and make a Cola flavoured vodka. 1 litre vodka, 2x Orange peel and juice, 5x cinnamon sticks in pieces, 50g kola nuts grated, 3x lime juice and peel, 3x lemon juice and peel, 20g coriander seed, 1 grated nutmeg, 1 vanilla pod, 400g sugar, 20g bitter orange peel. - I've pulled these ratios out of my arse, but they're the basic ingredients for "cola" flavour, the kola nut also adds caffeine.

For colour "gravy browning" which is just a natural caramel colouring could be used, despite the name.

Gin and vodka are the ones I've seen done regulalry

I did sasparilla (from the sticks from the old sweet shop) and that turned out awesome if a little sweet

A nice clean vodka with a handfull of liquorice roots chucked in it for a few weeks might work nice

I'd be tempted with a light plantation rum then add with citrus fruits for a week or so.

Gin can work too but depending on the gin it may have a overpowering juniper flavour.

If you want to make your own infusions for this years Glastonbury you are about 6 months too late I'm afraid.

Blackberry whiskey is great. Sloe gin of course. I've made hazlenut vodka which is ok. Currently making plum vodka which is going well.

Generally 150g of fruit, 150g sugar to 750ml of vodka/whicky/gin works well and with maybe a bit sweetening at the end to taste.

The exception to being too late might be botanical infusions.

Rhubard and Custard sweets works well if you like sweet sticky drinks, as does Drumstick lollies!!

Also, inspired by the lovely fresh cherries I keep seeing on sale round this way, Cherry Vodka is lovely and doesn't take long.
