Spec me some iPad apps!

I've just got an iPad 2 and I'm trying to ge used to it after coming from Android. I'm finding the App Store a bit overwhelming so I'm struggling to find some apps for certain things.

- A live football scores app
- Windows Live Messenger and Google Talk (like Trillian)

Also as there's a ton of games, which free ones would people recommend?
