I am replacing the my kitchen and require a new eye level double oven and build in fridge freezer. Is it worth it paying the premium for Bosch, Neff, Siemens etc? Interested in people's opinions. Fridge freezer will be 70/30 split.

We've had a Samgung fridge/freezer for around 12 months and touchwood its been great. Better than the Bosch one it replaced.

Most of the Korean stuff is sound, some of the cheaper German stuff may not be made in Germany but uses the same parts.

The own brand stuff is cheap as chips, you get what you pay for, strangely some of the premium labels use the same stuff but quadruple the price.

I have a Bosch fridge freezer 12 years, Bosch washing machine 10 years & Bosch condenser tumble dryer 10 years, all have been superb, none have ever broken down & all are still going strong.

Also got a Bosch egg boiler, it must be 10 years old, does perfect soft, medium & hard boiled eggs.

If something goes wrong with say a Hotpoint fridge freezer outside the 1 or 2 year warranty period are you entitled to a free repair outside that warranty period up to the 6 year limit?

Please stay away from Merloni products which include Hotpoint, Creda, Indesit and Ariston.

I'd always spend as much as you can justify.

I've just bought a Miele washing machine, and whilst some people here for lack of a better choice of words 'didn't get it' I'm delighted with it. If I'm in the kitchen all you can here is water swishing around the drum every now and again. If it is on spin, you obviously hear it speed up, but absolutely nothing like my old Bosch, you don't have to raise your voice even when stood next to it. I honestly can't hear it if I'm in another room, even when its on its 1600 rpm spin. Without doubt it is quieter than our dishwasher.

Neff would be where my money would go on an oven. A friend has one and its all the little touches that make it really brilliant.

Got a Zanussi eye level double oven - Siemens Induction hob - Hotpoint built in washing machine and Belling built in fridge and freezer - All now over 4 yrs old and going a treat - There is only two of us so wear and tear isn't great. - Still got my old AEG fridge/freezer in garage

I will say having all appliances built in make's kitchen look neater, although they cost more.

I had a cheap Bosch fridge which wasn't great but the replacement Liebherr is excellent. Siemens dishwashers are very solid and sensibly built. I have a Belling hob and it's ok but the knobs are a little fragile.

I'd have a brief look around at what's available for your budget, note down the features that you want and then look who has the best offers on the bits you want. A lot of places do offers for 3+ appliances but I've found this to be around 2.5%-3.5% which you can easily beat if you're lucky with the timing and don't mind ordering from a few different places.

I went for Neff Oven, Microwave, Hob and Hood, Bosch dishwasher and AEG fridge freezer. I wanted at least 2 years warranty from someone who had a decent reputation for customer service which was BSH.

I went for the Neff oven as I understood the brochure (some of them are completely illogical) and it fitted my needs then I did the aesthetic thing of matching all the external appliances to it. The hood is also an angled one and it was much cheaper than an Elica so happy enough.

Went for the Bosch dishwasher as it has the Variodrawer like the Neff/Siemens but was on offer and came with 6 months free dishwasher tabs and cashback... the only thing it's missing is where the Bosch shines a light on to the floor to say it's on, the Neff shined a light on to the floor to say how much longer was left. Bit annoying but not worth £150+

Just bought the AEG FF this morning as I wanted a 70/30 FF with limited swing as well as a decent amount of shelving options inside. I was originally going for the BSH option with Hydrofresh and other gubbins (depending on which was the cheapest as they are laid out exactly the same inside!) but decided I wouldn't really use it. The cheaper BSH options had limited shelf options inside and a door that swung around randomly so found a decent AEG option which by chance I found for a lot less and got a well known appliance place to match it.

Made in the same factory as what?

Baumatic has just gone bust, they are also just cheap badged up appliances, not something I would ever recommend.

Got a Neff oven/grill, oven/grill/microwave, induction hob, and extractor fan, Bosch fridge-freezer and dishwasher. They've been great and the Bosch stuff came with cashback and 4 year extended warranties.

We have an Indesit washer/dryer that's just average, and has needed a few repairs over the years, but we're just going to run it into the ground and replace it with a Bosch.

Basically you get what you pay for, and you can see it in the functionality and build quality of the more expensive kitchen appliances.

That is absolutely not the case in the world of white goods.

Baumatic? Their mid/high end stuff is not badged I don't think.

Can you source this?

They have gone into administration though - shame as I have an oven, hob and microwave from them. Seem to work just fine and look great.
