Ahh so PSC doesn't do flat timings but hynix will? Seems I still have a lot of reading up to do on memory.
 
This memory can't come soon enough, re-installed windows, everything is going nuts, only booted past logon maybe 1 in 10 times, set ram back to 1600mhz everythings fine.

Corsair Vengeance is Officially the worst clocking memory on the face of the earth, 66mhz a voltage bump and slack timings and it still screws everything up.

Yep, the kingston stuff should be here Monday, so just having to lay off benching for a few days with anything above 4.3ghz, it was even acting up downclocked to ~1370mhz :p

And I was about to blame AMD drivers for my system not booting too :o

Hynix does not like flat timings either it likes 9-11-10, or 10-12-11 etc etc my TridentX like 10-12-11 all the way to DDR2700+ Samsung slopes up and then flatens out and can do very low TRAS with no voltage increase needed say 21. PSC up then down !!! ie 7-11-7, 8-11-7 etc etc Its not that they wont do the timings as you put it but if you set the timings in a pattern they like they clock much further.

Vengeance is the worsted clocking range on X79 by far the chipset hates it for some reason I have helped loads on RIVE get it stable at stock but not been able to clock or tune it much.

Ahh I see, its all coming together a little more now...no doubt I'll be back here asking questions once I get the new memory though :p

This Vengeance memory being so poor at clocking is actually putting me off Corsair memory all together.

Been doing some forward planning...

102.9 x 1.25 x 18.66 = 2400.17mhz, seems I shouldn't need to underclock at all :D
 
GSKILL RipjawZ are my number one for this format and Board. All the ASUS bios development team use GSKILL. Having said that those Team do look good and are probably also a Hynix IC.
 
I found this as well G-Skill Tridentx Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 PC3 19200 2400MHz i like g skill i have it in my current build
 
Afaik the tridentX memory is along G.Skill's very top line, sure I've heard 8 Pack rave on about it a few times :)
 
Just an update, got the Kingston 2400mhz kit earlier this week, its running fine at 2400mhz (102.9 x 1.25 x 18.66). Just need to adjust the timings once i'm happy the CPU is stable, my system seems to think the XMP profile is 11-13-13-30-2T when it should be 11-13-11-27-1T.

What tRFC should I be aiming for with this kind of kit? the XMP (which again is probably wrong, thanks Gigabyte) sets it to 220.
