Hi all. I've recently started getting back into gaming. I want to buy a new pc but I need a house first so will have to wait for a little while!! So I was wondering if some people could spec me a few older titles that would run on my system:

E6420 @2.8GHz
2GB RAM
7800GTX

It's not awful but I don't like buying games and not being able to play them on high settings, so am looking at games that are maybe a couple of years old that this can handle.

I'm up for any kind of games apart from multiplayer ones really. Here's a few of my favorite games which might give you an idea of what I like:
- Deus Ex
- Oblivion
- Morrowind
- Call of Duty series
- Medal of Honor series
- Far Cry
- Anno 1701
- Any type of racing game bar frustrating ones like trackmania and burnout!
- And most sports games by EA; NFL, NBA, Golf, Tennis etc

Thanks for any help.

Company of Heroes. A World War II RTS. Absolutely fantastic. In my all time top 10 games...and I've been PC gaming since 1995!

Mafia is a must play. One of the best games ever.

GTA: Vice city, GTA: San Andreas. Both great, though VC looks very dated now.

Mass effect

Left 4 Dead

Don't miss out on Fallout 3, best PC game I've ever had, not the usual type I play, but I blew me away with the depth and immersion.

GRID is a great racing game, should work OK on that setup.

Also, good point above - get an 8800 series, much more longevity in that for not much money.

Thanks for all the advice.

With regards to upgrading. I don't want to just yet, even if it is only a few quid, as I don't really want the hassle when I'll be doing it all again in a few months.

I've played a few of those games mentioned. Company of Heroes was very good actually so anything like that would be good. I like commandos as well so anything along those lines would probably be good. Not so much of the the more 'sci-fi' types mentioned though.

Do like the sound of mafia and grid though. I've played grid on my mates ps3, didn't think that'd run on my pc though. I would like dirt 2 but that definitely wont run on mine, dirt 1 was laggy enough!!

Have you tried the splinter cell series? Chaos theory and Double agent are the best, can be had for about a fiver and will work a treat on your system.

I found some old discs last night - Warcraft III, Dungeon Siege, Myst IV: Revelation, Aliens vs Predator 2, Tron 2.0, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, Age of Mythology. Most odd that none of those have made an appearance on Steam yet.
