I need some help tracing down what is the correct RAM for the following models.

My PC runs on an Asus K8NE Deluxe board, and has an AMD XP3000+ chip. I have only one GB at the moment and looking to stick 4 in it. Running Win 7 X64. I have no idea what kind of RAM I need for it!

Also I have an early 2007 MacBook Pro with 2gb. How can I find out what RAM I need for it? How many sticks can it take? Looking to stick 4 or 8 Gb in it if possible.

I honestly haven't a clue where to look for this stuff. Thanks

Right after a little searching, i came up with this motherboard

Asus K8N-E DLX (deluxe motherboard), looks like this motherboard is only supporting DDR memory and up to a maximum of 3Gb

so some ram like this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-062-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=65 could be used. you say you already have 1gb, maybe you could source some other 1gb sticks with the same specification to bump up your memory to 3gb. Althought it would seem it might be most cost effective to just upgrade some certain parts of your system, depends on what youre doing with the computer really.

With the Macbook and a quick look on wiki is it any of these models?

MA895* or MA896*; MA895*/A or MA896*/A; MA897*/A ?

if so then it looks like it already has as you said 2gb of pc2-5300 SO-DIMM SDRAM memory that is expandable up to 4gb. Heres the thing, laptops normally fill both expansion slots up (in your case maybe) 2x1gb modules, rather than just 1 x 2gb module, this is obviously cheaper for them but makes upgrading more costly as you have to buy 2 ram sticks instead of just 1 more.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-143-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=936 This is 4gb of the same ram thats already in your lappy at the moment, suitable for a macbook obvioulsy. If you decide to get this stuff you can allways sell off your old 2 x 1gb mem sticks on that online auction site everyones allways going on about to bring down the cost of the new sticks!

Anyway hope im of some help

Thanks for that - it maybe isn't even worth sticking new RAM in that old windows box. I use it for the ocassional bit of gaming.

The macbook pro is a 2007 2.33 Ghz model. It currently has the 2x1GB slots.

Thats for the help.

Glad to help, changing memory is one of the easiest things ever, i say if you can change a fuse in a plug then you'll have no problems changing out the memory in a laptop ( as long as its not hidden somewhere or got some silly backplate design which is a nightmare to get off :P)

I don't think they were complaining about installing RAM, i think they were saying that it's not really worth spending £30 on something they barely use.
