Spec me some RAM

My computer currently has 512MB of RAM but I'm looking to upgrade. The computer is mainly used for gaming so I want to be able to run games like Empire Total War smoothly on my computer. Will getting another 1GB be enough or should I get another 2GB?

I'm looking for the cheapest options available that will be compatible and work properly. Not sure what informaton you need but operating system and motherboard chipset are below:

Microsoft Windows XP
Intel Pentium 4 3.00 GHZ
ATI Radeon 9100 IGP

Your CPU and graphics will be much more of a bottleneck mate, adding RAM will help but nowhere near as much as I think you are hoping for.

yeah to run ETW smoothly I suspect you'll need new CPU + RAM + gfx + mobo = new computer - sorry

The computer seems slow when having several applications open so will the extra RAM help in that sense?

Yes, what is your actual mobo though? download and run CPU-z and click on mainboard tab if you're unsure
