I've got a bad stick of RAM and currently have OCZ GOLD 10600 memory. I've now concluded this has reuslted in many problems with me and ran memtest and one stick has errors.

I have a Noctua ND D14 (huge), X58 UD3R motherboard and I7 920 D0. I will be overclocking to 3.8 and eventually to 4ghz.

The current OCZ memory fits in fine, but I've taken a look at the Patriot RAM and that looks good, but does have huge heat sink and not sure if it will fit. I don't want to have OCZ memory again and Corsair 1600MHZ is too much for me to spend on RAM.

I want 3 x2GB sticks of DDR3 tri channel memory. Maybe pc3 12800.

If you have a bad stick of RAM, you should be able to RMA the kit to retailer. I did this when it happened to me with a Corsair stick, and I got a brand-new RAM kit a week later.

+1 on this, I think the last I RMAd for ram just said "I ran memtest for blah and had this many errors" and got a speedy RMA form :P

i would try an RMA whether you have the packaging or not. if they refuse it, bin the dodgy stick, and sell the other two as a dual channel kit?

I have binned the RAM box, but if I did buy some RAM, what could be recommended if I don't go down the RMA rotue.

I had binned my original box too, but they don't require the original packaging to RMA it - just put it in something that is static-free and will keep it protected. The retailer I was dealing with also suggested I use RMSD.

As for a replacement recommendation, this kingston or this corsair kit would be great. However, even if you do buy new RAM, I strongly suggest you RMA the OCZ stuff (even if you sell on the replacement kit), otherwise you are effectivly throwing away £135 worth of RAM.
