Evening folks,

I was hoping someone could spec me some 16gb ram for a new DC build.
The motherboard will be the Asus Maximus Formula vii and the cpu is the 4790k if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance.

One thing I've noticed when OCing and benching is that the timings do have more of an impact than the speed. My only experience of this is with 1600MHz RAM @11-11-11-28t OC'd to 9-9-9-24t @~2000MHz and varying stages in between... Managed to get my fastest SuperPi 1million result of 6.8s something on a 2500k using the RAM @1866MHz...

ALthough I might add that this may not be transferable to DC chips- I know they like SPEED :)

I'll be overclocking but not benching so will that make a difference? Also how do Avexir compare to Corsair, Team Extreme, Kingston etc.

I just contacted the Overclockers shop as I was looking to find out when the ram was coming back into stock.
The guy on the phone said he heard a lot of horror stories about the G.Skill ram so he would rather go Kingston or Corsair and if I wanted to push overclocking then the Team Group ram.

I swear that just made me more confused :|

Edit: Screw it I just placed an order for the G.Skill ram.

KINGSTON!! Gskill is far superior!!(usage dependent) They usually have the pick of the IC's probs followed by corsair then everyone else from what i have read.

Was looking to move to 16gb mate, i was gonna bung in another 8gb of the ram in sig. But it's impossible to find now. So thought id just go the 2x 8gb route.

Dont really need it at present tbh, but useful to have for later, (moving to win 8.1 soon). Is filling all banks still as big an issue as previous when oc'in?. Last time i did so was with 16gb of vengeance lp on Z77. Terrible ram tbh, wouldnt clock for squat even with 8gb.

tbh 8gb is enough for most people and yes 4 sticks will make it a touch harder to OC your chip, by the time you actually need 16gb you will probably have a new PC, and if you go for 8gb sticks they will be harder to tweak also, depends on what you want to do, but those c9's will be awesome, with your set up i know which i'd have but everyones needs are different
