So, I managed to get myself an m17x r4 from the dell outlet with the help of Adam182 :D

since it was quite a bit under my budget, I have some money left over to spend on some accessories :D

I was wanting some opinions on:

A laptop rucksack that will fit the laptop and some books for school along with the charger and a mouse, preferably waterproof.

A laptop cooler

and

A 3.5" external hard drive caddy that is preferably usb 3.0 and powered by usb (not sure if you can do this)

Can you guys help me with these? :)

I struggled for a while when it came to laptop backpacks, i didnt want to splash out £80odd for an alienware bag. In the end i got the Belkin slimline backpack for around £27. The m17x fits perfect and its a great bag with a real nice inner lining to keep your beast safe. The only criteria it wouldnt meet 100% is the waterproof one. I imagine it could take a good dousing in the stuff but its not sold as a waterproof bag.

If you do struggle to find a waterproof bag i wouldnt highly recommend the belkin its a bargain.

For a proper rucksack take a look at the Slappa MASK. I think waterproofing will be a hard factor to find but the rucksack is lined and i have taken mine through a small stint of rain and not had any problems with it getting to my gear. I have carried books drink and my laptop in mine and would not want to try anything less padded - it has neat sections for all wires and gear. If you want some pictures just ask

I would scan ebay to see if you can pick anything up as the rrp of 120 is quite steep - lucky i found mine for around 40.

I'm starting to save up for my M17x, and was just wondering what you ment by coming under budget? Do you mean by lowering the spec or using some sort of discount codes? Because I have heard about some 10% codes for dell flying about every now and then.

Be sure to keep the laptop in the alienware sleeve that was supplied when keeping it in your rucksack for that little bit of extra protection from scuff marks ;)

Some awesome dude managed to snag an M17x r4 with a 7970 on the outlet for just over £900 and through his righteous generosity (even though its better and cheaper than both his r4's) ordered it for him (using his card).

coolermaster do laptop coolers big enough for a 17" laptop. logitech g500 or 400. gaming mouse maybe, how about treating yourself to an alienware rucksack?

Will look into the bag suggestions :)

I got it as a refurbished model from the dell outlet ;)

I have been looking at those laptop coolers iv :) I was also looking into the nzxt ones as I've heard they're good too :)

So far, other than the suggestions in terms of bags I have looked at the razer messenger bags, as even though they are not exactly what I wanted (backpack style) it is waterproof and looks awesome :) I was also looking at the dell adventure backpack, but I've not heard anything about it? also, I thought the alienware one would be more expensive, but it's £70 now :D

After looking into it, the razer messenger bag only fits 15" laptops :(

I also saw the astro scout backpack, it can fit a very large amount of stuff in it:

I didnt like the Astro...i thought it was a bit of a gimmick with the whole "gamer xbox" style and hype. I havent tried it in person but it looks cheaply made in terms of design . The straps do not seem that studry. The laptop sleeve dosent even cover the top of the laptop...

I have been looking at reviews, and I think the astro bag looks better than the alieneare one in terms of the stuff that I'd be putting in, the back part that holds the laptop is like that on the alienware bag too, and that one is less padded, so the astro bag is probably my top choice just now :)
