Spec Me Some Upgrades

Hi guys,

So the last time I posted this my circumstances changed right before I made the purchases. Now I've got the money secured this is happening.
So upgrade time. I'm not sure on how much I'm looking to spend as I'm not sure what needs upgrading. But if a certain component is pulling the whole rig down then I would have the money to upgrade.

What are you doing with the PC?

If it's games, then all you really require is a better GPU. Upgrading the CPU to an i7-3770 seems obvious, but unless you're overclocking - in which case you'll need a decent CPU cooler - I don't think games will see a significant benefit. And you may be able to overclock your i5-3470 to 4 GHz.

I would certainly recommend a second monitor.

Gaming mostly. I work on the supply boats offshore so I spend a lot of time on it during the day when every other sane person is at a normal 9-5 job.
Have had a fairly long trip this time so when I was last on it two months ago BF4 played around 90fps on ultra. Don't want to overclock as of yet but the option is available as temps are fairly low even while on load, due me liking it about the same temperature as the Scottish winter in my room.

I don't feel a second monitor will do it for me, and will seriously reduce performance.
 
A second monitor would be for desktop use, not gaming. I have one monitor in landscape mode for gaming, videos, etc; and one in portrait mode for WP, general browsing, and forum usage.

But really, if you're getting 90 fps on the games you currently play, save your pennies for when you start to play games which are affected.

Thats actually incorrect, you wont need to upgrade anything maybe the powersupply but thats about it, you might see some throttling in newer games but youll be fine trust me.
 
Hang on, is that your actual rig right now or what you are planning to get? If you are planning this, why not get Haswell?
