Spec me some watercooling?

Ok got it all set up but the pump appears to be leaking out of the circle in the bottom, could I have fitted the reservoir top incorrectly or is it a faulty pump?

You've just got to be careful the 'O' ring is in the groove and the plexi-top is tightly attached... I am sure you will find this is one of many leaks... Been there myself...

It's been fine the last few hours (thankfully), I'm now leaving it over night I'll be able to sell if there's any leaks because the Feser is bright red and I've got kitchen roll everywhere.

Trouble is...

I'm now worried about reports of Feser F1 gunking everything so I'm tempted to replace it with de-ionised water instead, what's the best way of cleaning out the loop do I just re-fill it with de-ionised water and pump it around for a while and then drain it again?

Hey

Just chill out a bit there!! It's most likely folk left their Feser F1 liquid in the loop for too long. If you are that worried about it then just put in deionised/distilled water next refresh.

Personally I just use a mix of distilled water+biocide+tea oil and auto anti-freeze (from Halfords). I've got my own water distiller (OK - so I'm a bit hardcore :))

Well done on getting the loop up and running so fast!

Thanks for all the advice.

When you say people left it in the loop too long how often roughly should it be replaced?

As long as the level is such that there is no possibilty of air being sucked into the pump impellor it doesn't really matter. No reason not to fill it up as much as poss though. You will likely find the level drops over time, so filling it up full the first time means you can leave it longer before topping up.

Hi

I think it's a really good idea to visually inspect the loop quite often to check what state it's in (checking for the start of algae growth, etc.). Personally I try to refill my rig at least every 2 years. Some people would say 6 months (essential if you are mixing metals in the loop ie. aluminum blocks and copper blocks/barbs, etc.)
