Hi Folks,

Was looking at these DT swiss ER 1600's for a Topstone 105 al. Bike's not light nor am I :D so wasn't going to go for carbon but wanted something a little bit better than stock for 28\32mm road tyres.

cheers

Would avoid hunts alloys I've damaged 3 of them far too easily. My dtswiss have been great until a huge hit last weekend. Another option of a guy I can vouch for is low mass wheels sold through cyclocross racer. https://cyclocrossracer.co.uk/collections/low mass guy I race and train with, really personal service and he uses some quality parts to build some of the best wheels at this price point from a UK seller.

Cheers @SoliD those lowmass look similar to some of the stuff 23mm has to offer but good a shout. What kind of damage happened to the hunts? @turbot1984 nothing wrong with the wtb rims that came with the topstone I just fancied a separate set of wheels that are a little more road oriented really.

Mates got a set on his mtb and seems to like them. No idea why you'd choose them over DT Swiss for the same price though. DT Swiss rims pop up on superstar now and then for very reasonable prices, with their own in house hubs.

I've dented 3 rims somehow, I use them for cx and they're treated the same as 4 other sets of wheels which haven't had any issues yet the hunts seem to be quite malleable. They've been great with Cs but I feel the rims aren't as strong as I'd like them to be as I've never dented others until the DT Swiss last weekend but that was a massive blowout inducedg chunk out of the rim rim itself rather than a dent.

Quite a few of the wheels are similar to hunt

Ah, ok. Along with DT Swiss i mentioned earlier, i also use Easton EA90 SL's for summer road use which are better and lighter, but DTs tougher for mix of on/off road so you can't go wrong with them.

Sounds like user error to me :D or just plain bad luck.
Hunt won’t be making their own rims so will be sourcing from the same places as every other builder, albeit to a different profile.
Another option would be to look at hope wheels. They’re built close to me :)

After one yes but 3 completely separately is just cheaper materials.
