2 of my kids have taken some sort of interest in WW2 since I started playing Memoir 44 (they play with me sometimes). Specifically looking for docs that cover the start of the war and why it started, normandy invasions and general France battles and possibly covering the Auschwitz. One of my kids started to watch Band of Brothers with me and he liked it, plus he can separate reality and acting.

I have Netflix, Amazon and Disney if that helps, plus I am sure I can source elsewhere.

See if you can source World at War, the documentary series from around the 70s. A truly epic series that covers all aspects of WW2 and has interviews with people on all sides of the conflict
I have heard of that. Is it the one that has been remastered/cleaned up?

edit: Dont think it is but I have found it on archive.org. Downloading now. Thats my week sorted with the kids or without.

Couple of episodes into WW2. Quite harrowing really, the rise of Hitler. Just waltzing into Austria, Czechoslovakia (with minimal resistance) etc. Also, TIL, we did **** all to help Poland after promising them our full support. I know a fair bit about WW2, never had it as a subject at school though. This is educational. 10/10

I'm still plowing through the WW2 doc. Upto episode 6 now. Some really interesting stuff. Barbarossa battles in -40 conditions. Crazy stuff. The North Africa war was an eye opener, sand in engines forcing armour not to work, same with artillery. 99% sure my Grandad was over there at that time. Bloody good documentary.
