...Speakers, perhaps surround sound. It's my birthday this month, and i want some new speaker for my PC as im currently using ones that came with my case bundle. I was wondering,

£100 surround sound, with onboard sound card
or
£50 worth of surround sound with a £50 sound card
or
Should i meet half way like £75-£25

And, it would be great if someone could recommend some surround sound. Was looking at the Logitech G51's

Regards
Ben

I think you should go with internal sound, motherboard audio can be decent enough hooked up to a surround speaker set. A lot of people go for a creative card if buying a dedicated solution for entertainment purposes - especially if you're a big gamer (pci or pci-e).

I haven't got a surround set yet, just make do with a big pair of high quality speakers. So I'm still in the position of thinking of getting something in future.. and will do my research - looks like logitech and creative sets will be top of the list.

From the little I know of this area, if you want to use onboard then it is best if your speakers have optical in, if not some sort of compromise on the budget might be better with some to soundcard and some to speakers.

Also if you are running Vista then Creative are not the way to go at present for soundcards, the drivers are somewhere short of hopeless apparantly.
