Spec me something different!

Having done BF2142 to death (can't wait for BC2), and lots of dirt 2 and COD WaW, I feel like a change. Something that requires a bit more patience and has a story. Being a complete twitchy fps/driving game dude, I am n00b to this realm. Can someone suggest something that will have a bit of longevity, but not bore the pants off me given my usual game preference? Thanks very much

I have seen the screenshots and wondered what it's like. I'm also after a graphically pretty game so that might be just the thing. I'd settle for older (read cheaper ) games as well, so if I've missed any classic must-play games in this genre I'd love to try them out.

BC2 is defo on my list, but I'm looking for something more like DAO, but perhaps with a lower price tag. If nothing else crops up I'll go for that, but was looking at my list of steam games and realised they were all fps/driving games and yearned for something a bit more rewarding in the long term rather than just short bursts of action.
